Pub Quiz II

We held our second Pub Quiz this year on September 18th in the
Communication Space of HELLO Village.

A pub quiz is a team-based trivia competition that started in Britain in the 1970s. Today, it has become a popular activity around the
world, enjoyed in countries including the UK, Canada, and
the United States.

For this event, we were delighted to welcome students from Niseko High School in Hokkaido. Their school recently created and opened World Village, a space which took inspiration from HELLO Village,
and students shared their excitement in being able to see where
the idea began.

Students from Niseko and Hiyoshigaoka were placed into six
teams. The event began with light snacks and friendly
introductions, allowing everyone to get to know each other before
the competition began. The six teams then competed to earn
points by answering quiz questions across various rounds. The quiz featured popular activities such as a “Word Search”, “Common
Answers”, “One of a Kind”, and everyone’s favorite “Music Video
Quiz”. A brand-new challenge called “Word Puzzles” was
introduced this time. It proved to be quite difficult, but students
from both schools collaborated and did their best. In the end, the
team with the highest score received ice cream bars as their prize
for participating!

The event was a wonderful opportunity for students to connect and communicate in English while engaging in the friendly spirit of
competition.

9月２６日（木）放課後、英語村コミュニケーションスペースで
Pub QuizIIが開かれました。

Pub Quizとはイギリスで１９７０年代に始まったもので現代ではイギリス、カナダ、アメリカなどの世界の多くの国々で親しまれているトリビアクイズ大会です。

今回のPub Quizは北海道からニセコ高校の生徒たちをお迎えしての開催となりました。彼らの学校は最近HELLO Villageのような施設である
World Villageを新設したばかりで、同様な施設でのエキサイティングなゲームの大盛り上がりしました。

ニセコ高校と日吉ヶ丘高校の生徒たちは混合６チームに分かれ、イベントはフィンガーフードを楽しみながら得点競争が始まる前に結束を強めるために和やかな自己紹介に始まりました。その後はそれぞれのチームはポイントを得るために次々と繰り出される問題に挑みました。おなじみの
「Word Search」「Common Answers」「One of a Kind」、そして今回新しく登場した「Word Puzzles」は、なかなか難しく両校の生徒たちはそれぞれのチームで力を合わせて頑張りました。最後は皆が大好きな「Music Video Quiz」を大いに楽しみながら挑戦しました。一番ポイントが高かったチームは商品としてアイスクリームを受け取り、大喜びでした。

このようなイベントは毎回そうなのですが、今回も生徒たちにとって、正々堂々と全力を尽くし相手への敬意を大切に、勝ち負けだけでなくお互い気持ちよく競い合いながら英語によるコミュニケーション能力を高めあっていくことができるすばらしい機械となりました。
